Description
These chocolate strawberry frozen yogurt bites are a healthy, protein-packed snack or dessert featuring creamy Greek yogurt, fresh strawberries, and a crisp chocolate shell. Easy to make, customizable, and perfect for kids and adults alike.
Ingredients
- 1 cup (150g) strawberries, fresh or frozen, hulled and chopped
- 1 1/4 cups (300g) Greek yogurt, plain or vanilla (whole milk, low-fat, or non-dairy)
- 2 to 3 tablespoons (30-45ml) honey or maple syrup, to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon (2.5ml) vanilla extract (optional)
- 1 cup (175g) chocolate chips or chopped chocolate (semi-sweet, dark, or milk)
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) coconut oil (or neutral oil, optional)
- Optional toppings: chopped nuts (almonds, peanuts, pistachios), shredded coconut, extra strawberry pieces, sprinkles
Instructions
- Wash, hull, and chop the strawberries into small pieces. If using frozen strawberries, thaw and drain off any extra liquid.
- In a medium bowl, combine Greek yogurt, honey or maple syrup, and vanilla extract (if using). Stir until smooth. Gently fold in the chopped strawberries.
- Line a mini muffin tin or silicone tray with liners or parchment strips. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the yogurt mixture into each cavity, filling to just below the top. Tap the tray to settle the mixture.
- Freeze the filled tray for at least 3 hours, or until the yogurt mixture is completely frozen solid (overnight for best results).
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips and coconut oil. Microwave in 20–30 second bursts, stirring between each, until melted and smooth. Alternatively, melt over a double boiler on low heat.
- Remove the frozen yogurt bites from the molds. Dip the tops of each bite into the melted chocolate, letting excess drip off. Immediately sprinkle with desired toppings before the chocolate sets.
- Place the dipped bites back on a parchment-lined tray and freeze for another 15–20 minutes, until the chocolate shell is hard.
- Transfer the fully set bites to a freezer-safe container, layering with parchment to prevent sticking. Store in the freezer until ready to eat.
Notes
For best results, use full-fat Greek yogurt for creaminess. Dairy-free yogurt and vegan chocolate chips work for vegan/dairy-free versions. Work quickly when dipping in chocolate, as the bites melt fast. Use silicone molds for easy release. Freeze thoroughly before dipping in chocolate for a clean shell. Store in the freezer for up to 1 month.
